Proje yarışmasının öğrencilerin fen ve teknoloji dersine olan tutumlarına etkisi ve öğretmen görüşleri

Abstract

Bu çalışmada Ege Bölgesi pilot illerinde ( İzmir, Manisa, Muğla ) “İlköğretim (6., 7. ve 8. sınıf) Matematik ve Fen Bilimleri Proje Yarışması”na Fen Bilimleri alanından katılan öğrencilerin Fen ve Teknoloji dersine ilişkin görüş ve tutumlarıyla birlikte öğretmenlerin de görüşleri tespit edilmiştir. Bu amaçla öğrenci tutumları ile onların cinsiyet, Fen ve Teknoloji dersi notu, Proje yarışmasına katılmalarındaki etken, Fen ve Teknoloji laboratuarında deney yapma sıklıkları, projeye katıldıkları okulun niteliği ve sınıf düzeyleri arasında bir ilişki olup olmadığı sorularına cevap aranmıştır. Proje yarışmasına katılan öğrencilerin Fen ve Teknoloji dersine ilişkin tutumlarını tespit etmek için 16 maddeden oluşan Likert tipi anket uygulanmıştır. Tutum ölçeğinin güvenirlik katsayısı (Cronbach alfa) 0,87 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Ayrıca 1’i yapılandırılmış ve 4’ü açık uçlu olmak üzere toplam 5 soru daha sorulmuştur. Ankete katılan öğrencilerin demografik özellikleri de sorulan 4 soru ile tespit edilmiştir. Böylece öğrencilere toplam 25 soru yöneltilmiştir. Veriler SPSS 11.0 paket programında analiz edilmiştir. Analiz sonuçları yorumlanarak öneriler geliştirilmiştir. Analiz sonuçlarına göre ilköğretim 6. sınıf öğrencilerinin 7. ve 8. sınıf öğrencilerine göre Fen ve Teknoloji dersine ilişkin tutumları daha yüksek bulunmuştur. Ancak anlamlı bir farklılık gözlenememiştir. Proje çalışmalarına katılan kız öğrencilerin Fen ve Teknoloji dersine ilişkin tutumları erkek öğrencilerin tutumlarından daha yüksek tespit edilmiş ve kız öğrenciler lehine anlamlı bir fark bulunmuştur. Öğretmen görüşlerine göre de proje yarışmasına katılan öğrencilerin Fen ve Teknoloji dersine karşı olumlu tutum geliştirdikleri sonucuna varılmıştır.

The aim of study is to determine the students& #8217; Science and Technology related views and attitudes of the students attending to & #8220; Primary School (6th, 7th, 8th grades) Mathematic and Science Project competition& #8221; from Science department, in Aegean Region pilot provinces (Izmir, Manisa, Muğla). With this aim the answers were searched for questions whether there is a relation among student attitudes and gender, Science and Technology lesson grades, the factories in attendance to Project Competition, the frequency of testing in Science and Technology laboratory, the quality of school they attended to project from and classroom levels. Likert type questionnaire including 16 items has been carried out in order to determine Science and Technology related attitudes of the students attended to project competition. The reliability coefficient of attitude measure (Cronbach-alpha) has been counted as 0.87. Moreover, one of questions is structured and 4 of them are open ended, totally 5 questions has been asked regarding demographic characteristics. The demographic features of students who responded to the questionnaire have been determined by four questions. The data have been analyzed in SPSS 11.0 packet program. Analysis results have been interpreted and suggestions have been provided. According to analysis results, the Science and Technology lesson related attitudes of 6th grade students have been found higher than seventh and eighth grade students, but a significant statistical difference could not be found. The Science and Technology lesson related attitudes of female students attending to project studies have been counted higher than attitudes of male students and a significant difference has been determined in the favour of female student& #8217; s. According to the teacher& #8217; s view, it has been resulted that students, who attended to project competition, have improved positive attitudes toward Science and Technology lesson.
