Otel Çalışanlarının Mesleki ve Gelecek Beklentilerine Yönelik Bir Araştırma: Antalya Örneği

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı, otel işletmelerinde çalışan kişilerin turizm mesleği ve gelecekten beklentileri ile ilgili düşüncelerini belirlemek ve katılımcıların meslek ve gelecekten beklentileri ile ilgili düşüncelerinin demografik değişkenlere göre farklılık gösterip göstermediğini tespit etmektir. Çalışmada nicel yöntem kullanılmış ve veri toplama aracı olarak anket tekniğinden yararlanılmıştır. Çalışmanın ana kütlesi, Antalya ilinde faaliyet gösteren 5 yıldızlı konaklama işletmelerinde çalışan kişilerden oluşmaktadır. Veriler kolayda örnekleme yöntemi ile toplanmış, toplam 376 anket değerlendirilmeye alınmıştır. Araştırma sonucuna göre, çalışanlar mesleklerini severek yapmakta, ancak turizm sektörünü yıpratıcı bir meslek olarak görmektedirler. Gelecekten beklentiler kısmında ise, katılımcılar Türkiye’de turizm mesleği ile ilgili geleceğe umutsuz bakmakta, ancak turizm kariyerlerine yurtdışında devam etmek istemekte ve gelecekte turizm sektöründe çalışmaktan mutlu olacaklarını ifade etmektedir. Yapılan analizler sonucunda, mesleğe ilişkin düşünceler ve gelecekten beklentiler ile demografik değişkenler arasında anlamlı farklılık ortaya çıkmıştır.

The aim of this study is to determine the opinions of the people working in the hotel business about the tourism profession and future expectations, and to determine whether the future expectations and the occupational considerations of the participants differ according to the demographic variables. Quantitative method was used in the study and survey technique was used as data collection tool. The target population of the study consists of people working in 5 star accommodation companies operating in Antalya province. The data were collected by easy sampling method and a total of 376 questionnaires were taken into consideration. According to the results of the research, the employees do their jobs professionally and willingly, but they regard them as a backbreaking profession. The expectations of participants in the future look bleak future of tourism and tourism related professions in Turkey, but they want to continue their careers abroad and they will be happy to work in the tourism sector in the future. As a result of the analyzes made, there is a significant difference between the future expectations about the occupation and the occupational thoughts and the demographic variables.
