Observations on Muğla/Turkey population of Rhaponticoides mykalea

Abstract

Rhaponticoides mykalea (Hub.-Mor.) M. V. Agab. & Greuter - known as synonym of Centaurea mycalea Hub.- Mor. – is a taxon belonging to Asteraceae family. The type sample was described from Davutlar (Aydın-Selçuk) in 1979. It is an endemic taxon at CR level according to IUCN category. In this study, the status of the localities and population of R. mykalea’s are recorded in Muğla. As a consequent of 2 year long work, the status of the type was evaluated as a result of coal-mine work and constructing in the area. It has been determined that the taxon existing 3 localities. The taxon is represented by 1394 individuals in 2016 and 2944 individuals in 2017. In our studies, the its distribution area has been determined in Muğla and it has been proposed to regulate from CR level to VU level according to IUCN (2012) criteria in this context.

Rhaponticoides mykalea (Hub.-Mor.) M. V. Agab. & Greuter sinonimi Centaurea mykalea Hub.–Mor. olarak bilinen Asteraceae familyasına ait bir taksondur. Tip örneği 1979 yılında Davutlar (Aydın-Selçuk)’dan tanımlanmıştır. IUCN kategorisine göre CR seviyesinde endemik taksondur. Bu çalışmada R. mykalea’nın Muğla’daki lokaliteleri ve populasyonunun durumu kayıt altına alınmıştır. Yapılan 2 yıllık çalışma sonucunda türün kömür ocağı çalışmaları ve yapılaşma neticesindeki durumu değerlendirilmiştir. Taksonun 3 lokalitede bulunduğu belirlenmiştir. Takson 2016 yılında 1394 birey, 2017 yılında 2944 bireyle temsil edilmiştir. Çalısmalarımızda türün Muğla’da yayılış alanı belirlenmiş ve bu bağlamda IUCN (2012) kriterlerine göre CR seviyesinden VU seviyesine düzenlenmesi önerilmiştir.
