Abstract

Irrigational usage of urban wastewater free of heavy metals and pathogens is a world wide method for the water shortage and protection. Lime applied urban wastewater of Mugla province use for irrigation of maize plants in two years field experiment. Soil and plant analysis were done to carry out the effectivity of urban wastewater. Although soil EC and pH status stabile during the experiment, but total N, K, Ca and Na contents increased by urban wastewater applications. Contrary to above results soil microelement contents decreased by the application of urban wastewater. Thousand grain weight, corncob yield and total yield of maize affected significantly in both years applications. N, K and Ca contents of leaf samples increased significantly in each year, but slightly decrease determined for P also in both years. Microelement contents of leaf also decreased generally in the experiment. Results showed that alkaline stabilized urban wastewater is an important water and plant nutrient source in irrigation. The observations carried out that urban wastewater have positive significant effect on maize physiological characteristics, but there wasn't any negative significant effect on soil.
